Dije que hoy terminaba con este especial y les voy a quedar mal, lo voy a extender una semana más, hoy quería publicar dos biografías de golpe pero no se va a poder, es demasiada información y con mucha importancia la que tengo que resumir, que es muy difícil dejar algo fuera con tal de publicar dos biografías en una misma entrada. Por lo pronto hoy les tengo una biografía más y la próxima semana (ahora sí) concluiré con este especial.

Ya hablamos del cuándo (según mi investigación) llega la lucha libre a la ciudad de Puebla, también de los lugares, que por lo que su servidor pudo encontrar a lo largo de 80 años la lucha libre poblana ha tenido al menos siete sedes distintas para la realización de sus funciones. Afortunadamente Puebla no solo tiene espacios para albergar lucha libre, a lo largo del siglo pasado se pudieron ver carteles compuestos principalmente por luchadores Poblanos. Hoy y la siguiente semana les contare algunas historias de estos hombres.

Seguimos con esta historia, ya sabemos que antes de la Arena Puebla hubo al menos cuatro lugares en Puebla que sirvieron de espacio para la realización de funciones de lucha libre, ¿qué paso después de que abrió la Arena Puebla?

Lo que a continuación escribo es como descubrir el hilo negro, ya lo suponía, pero "nada más" había que moverse, leer y preguntar a las personas indicadas para confirmarlo. Este artículo surge de una duda que tenía como regiomontano fanático de la lucha libre auto exiliado en Puebla: ¿Había lucha libre en la angelopolis antes de que se inaugurara la Arena Puebla en 1953?

Además de contestar la pregunta antes mencionada, también haré un repaso de la historia del pancracio en Puebla a través de los años, considerando arenas y luchadores poblanos.

Antes de seguir hago la siguiente aclaración: Para simplificar un poco mi investigación, consideré como punto de partida el año en el que se crea lo que hoy conocemos como lucha libre mexicana, esto en 1933 con la fundación de la empresa mexicana de lucha libre por parte de Salvador Lutheroth.

So pretty much what I do when I am thinking on what to write for today, I look at the calendar and see if I can relate lucha libre with the next holiday or whatever. Well, it was Mother's day on Saturday and Sunday (depending where you are from), so,  I've got something just a bit different in today's entry. Still is lucha libre what I am writing about, but it is not related to Mexican lucha libre, it is about Bolivian lucha libre and particularly Bolivian female Wrestling, I am talking about Cholitas lucha libre.

So in a few moments of free time I had a while ago, as a Lucha Libre fan and in a rather similar way that my idea of the lucha libre hall of fame came up, I thought of things that I would change in contemporary lucha libre. This is the best thing that I could think of.

It has been a while since the last time I saw any of the shows WWE has nowadays on TV, but every now and then I read news about WWE, like how The Rock returned to the company, or how Kaitlyin is the Divas champion or how the WWE has a new heel that is very American and makes racists comments every time he’s on the mic (And yeah it’s been that long since I watched Raw or something similar).

In WWE they are no strangers to the idea of creating and launching a wrestler with a controversial gimmick. Hell, there had been occasions when WWE just had TERRIBLE TIMING when giving a major push to a new character with a rather polemic personality.

But what about lucha libre? In the more than 70 years of history of Mexican wrestling there has been a parade of luchadores with all kind of name and ideas, I mean there has to be something as lame as Santina Marella. After reviewing 80 years of lucha libre history, today I bring you a few cases that makes you wonder, what were they thinking?

Valentine's Day Special: Love Machine vs Blue Panther

Yeah, I’m four days behind Valentine’s day, but there is no such thing as bad timing when it comes down to a good wrestling match, which is the case today. Thinking I could only came up with one luchador that is the closest representation of love in lucha libre, Love Machine.

Love Machine (or Art Barr) history is pretty well known (but if you don’t know it, leave a comment and I’ll write about it someday in the future), so today I bring you, one of the most known matches of this American wrestler, the 1992 bout against Blue Panther in which both masks were on the line.

So, today I wanted to write something dedicated to El Santo, since last Wednesday marked the 30th anniversary of his passing. Really there is nothing new I can say about him. I wanted to review and share one of his movies with you, but the few films I found online didn’t have any English subtitles. My plan B was to talk about one of his bouts, but apparently in this day and age, to encounter  with a complete match from El Santo on the Internet is asking too much, even though you can locate full Rikidözan fights from the 50’s on youtube.

Normalmente tengo un timing pésimo al momento de pensar en un tema para ésta columna, pero hoy (o al menos cuando estoy escribiendo esto) los planetas se alinearon y el tópico de este día (según yo) queda perfecto con la celebración en turno, les presento la lucha libre de cholitas.

Tres luchas de Atlantis

A pesar de que el debut del ídolo de los niños se tiene registrado como Junio de 1983, hoy Viernes, el CMLL le rendirá un homenaje a este luchador con motivo de sus 30 años de carrera en los encordados mexicanos. Aprovechando la ocasión, hoy les tengo tres encuentros de la trayectoria de mi ídolo.
