Here in Mexico, September is the most patriotic month of the year, mainly because that most important events in Mexican history occurred on this month. One of them being our independence day, which we celebrate today. So, in honor of the most Mexican month of the year, I have for you a top 3 list of the most Mexican luchadores of all time.
Mil Mascaras
Mil Mascaras
Most of Mr Personalidad career was build outside of Mexico, representing our country mainly in the United States and Japan, Maybe he didn't win too many championships in those countries, but his eye catching image and his style in lucha libre made him a worthy representative of Mexican wrestling, beyond Mexico's borders.
One of his greatest achievements was to be the first luchador to wrestle with a mask in the Madison Square Garden.
Inspired in the mayan insurgent, this luchador from the state of Tabasco, made a good reputation in our country. Maybe he didn't traveled as much as Mil Mascaras, but Canek was one of our defenders against foreign wrestlers when they were booked to wrestle in el Toreo de Cuatro Caminos back in the 70's and the 80's.
His most important victory, is to be one of the few wrestlers in the world to body slam Andre The Giant.
Daniel García Arteaga managed to build his career in Mexico and out of it. Most of his international path took place in South America, going through Colombia and Bolivia.
One of the many highlights of his career, is that while in one of his visits in Colombia, he fought a French boxer known as the French Tiger in Bogota, this occurred on May 5th 1963 (another patriotic date).
There are many other luchadores like Mil Mascaras, Cak and Huran Ramirez, but I'll leave them for another time. This is all for today. See you soon.
