Rey Mysterio vs Juventud Guerrera (Car versus car match)

Last weekend Triple A has his major event of the year, Triplemania XXII. Considering this I did a research to find one of the most remarkable moments of this PPV. Today's match is kind of odd, even for AAA standards, to sum it up, there was that time that Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera bet their cars on a match.
This match was booked for Triplemania IV which reading a few stories behind this show, the whole thing was way to weird and ambitious if we compare it to other editions, mainly because this Triplemania was going to be held in three different dates and places, one of them in the United States.

About this match, well, if you're not familiar with lucha libre, there's a point in most of the feuds between two luchadores, that they bet their mask or hair, in this case, Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera had been on a rivalry for almost a year. Well, AAA booking department went full hipster and decided that a mask versus mask match between Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio was just to mainstream, so a car versus car match was booked. Now that i think of it, it doesn't sound that bad, I mean, in the lucha libre world a mask will always be more important, but man, a car is not an easy thing to buy, especially if you are a luchador living in 1996 Mexico.

Anyway, whay did they place their cars for a wager? I don't know, I couldn't find anything that went beyond the fact they were feuding.  Ok, ok, at least the cars that they bet were awesome? I don´t know either, in fact, listening to the commentary from the match, my guess is that the commentators don't know either. They give a description of Rey's car and putting the characteristics together, sounds like Rey used to own a Chrysler Phantom, I don´t know, that's my guess.

Oh yeah, there's something I have to mention, this wasn't the first car versus car match between Rey and Juventud, they did this in January months before Triplemania, the difference was that it was also a cage match and it ended in a no contest because of Damian 666's interference, which made Rey and Juventud fall from the top of the cage which made both of them unconscious.

Anyway, as a special treat I have both matches for you today, first the cage fight and then the triplemania bout divided in two parts. Hope you like them, I'll see you next week.
