This Friday in the Arena México, CMLL will hold the final for the 2014 edition of its tournament named Campeonato Universal, in which 16 of its 18 champions participate to be declared the Universal Champion.
It's a kind of new competition, the first tournament was organized back in 2009 and that joust was won by Último Guerrero, since then there have been four other luchadores that have won this competition: Liger in 2010, La Sombra in 2011, El Terrible in 2012 and Hiroshi Tanahashi won last year's tournament.
Also, one could say that is a rather unfair tournament, mainly because of the weight differences between the competitors, considering there's a chance that the heavyweight champion can face the Lightweight Champion at some point, but anyway.
This year's final gives the opportunity to former winners Último Guerrero and La Sombra to become the Universal Champion for the second time. In fact, they've faced each other in this tournament before, back in 2010, at the semifinals, La Sombra defeated Último Guerrero to fight against Liger in the final.
Today I have for you the 2011 final in which La Sombra competed against Averno for the Universal Champion title. Hope you enjoy it! I'll see you next week.
