Last Tuesday the lucha libre community was quite shocked when CMLL announced that one of his most important rudo/heel luchador of the last years, Averno. Today we remember some moments of Averno's career in CMLL.
Starting with the championships subject, one particular thing I remember about Averno was his entrance to the ring and seeing his chest covered in three championship belts, actually I think he was one of the few luchadores from CMLL that entered a match wearing/ showing his title. But any way, Averno won quite a few number of belts as a CMLL luchador. Just to name some, he conquered the tag team and trios CMLL world championships, he also used to be a double world champion in the Middleweight division, conquering the CMLL and NWA, Averno being the last luchador to be recognized as NWA middleweight champion before NWA decided to retire several championship belts that have been in Mexico for a long time.
I would have loved to find a match in which he won any of those titles, but apparently that's asking too much. But I found the next best thing, Averno defending one of his championships. In this case, he faced Blue Panther for the CMLL World Middleweight belt. To watch this bout, click right HERE.
In the bet matches area, well, his record is not very long. As Averno he has been in three fights of this kind, winning in two of them, the mask of Plata in 2009 and the hair of Blue Panther in 2013. He lost his mask against La Mascara back in 2011.
I wanted to share with you the match with Blue Panther from 2013, but it's nowhere to be found. So I have for you the bout with La Mascara, which you can watch right HERE.
Finally in his presence in foreign wrestling companies, Averno was a worthy representative of Mexican wrestling and CMLL. He got a chance along with Último Guerrero for the IWGP Heavyweight Junior tag team titles in Wrestle Kingdom IV when they faced Ryusuke Taguchi and Prince Devitt. Also, he was part of the Mexican team that won the TNA X World Cup back in 2008. And in several times he was part of the group of luchadores that were booked for CMLL's tour in Japan, Fantasticamania.
Remembering this last event, I have for you a match in which he wrestled the first Mistíco (The original Sin Cara), in what I believe is the Koruaken Hall, you can watch this event right over HERE.
This is all for today, I just hope Averno has a successful career as an independent wrestler. I'll see you next week.
